Using wifi to control DMX Lighting Fixtures

If your Lighting Setup only needs one DMX Universe (512 DMX control channels) then you can save even more time and effort by using a wireless DMX controller and letting Simply Worship control it directly from your pc or laptop using WIFI. This article will show how quick easy it is to set this up. This can make Mobile Church or even static productions so much easier to set up and control.
Choose a Wifi ArtNet Interface
Do a quick search for an ArtNet/DMX Wifi interface. We chose one made by JMS Pro Light Products called AIR2DMX. This interface comes set up with its ip address set to 2.0.0.1 - this is the default value for ArtNet/DMX devices and is also the default value that Simply Worship is set to talk to so it can be used straight out of the box without any adjustments.
Setting up the wifi interface
You simply un-pack the AIR2DMX device, plug into the back of your first dmx lighting fixture and plug the power supply in to the mains and you're ready to start controlling your lights with Simply Worship.
The power LED lights up orange / WIFI LED flashes blue.
- Connect your laptop (with Simply Worship) to the AIR2DMX interface as follows:
- Enable Wifi on your laptop
- Select the JMS_AIR2DMX_xxxxxx Interface in the WLAN menu and click on Connect.
- Enter the AIR2DMX WLAN password of the interface. The AIR2DMX password can be found on the housing of the AIR2DMX interface.
- WIFI LED lights up continuously blue.
Start using Simply Worship to control your lights
You are now ready to start using Simply Worship to control your lights. I suggest that you start by setting the color and brightness for some fixtures to check that everything has worked and you have control.
